She was wandered away in aether paradise, and was looking for her brother, Gladion. She came upon a wormhole, that was from Nihilego. Nihilego was gonna capture Lilly, and she got so scared that she went unconscious.
Ash wore a loose short-sleeved shirt with white and blue stripes, brown Capri pants with red outlines, baggy pockets and red folded sleeves at the edge, and blue sneakers. As a member of the Ultra Guardians , Ash wears an indigo and white uniform with light periwinkle accents as the edge of the short sleeves, collar and inlines of his uniform are black. He wears matching indigo gloves. The wrestling mask was given by Kukui before they teamed up together at the Battle Royal.
When he is not wearing his hat, his hair remains the same only more smoother and shorter. This battle is most definitely one that Jessie, James, and Meowth would have lost in classic Team Rocket fashion in any other season. However, Mimikyu and his horrible temper came through and resulted in a beat down on this giant Totem Raticate, showing off his awesome power and giving the fans a reason to love that episode.
This list will be ranking the 10 battles this anime did best. Of course, this animation lent itself amazingly to the battles of the series, which were some of the most diverse as well due to the great cast introduced into the series.
In , the Pokemon anime a bit by modifying its character designs. More than a simple change of wardrobe, the denizens of the Pokemon TV world had changes to their faces and hair, and the result was an Ash with green eyes. While its not like Ash is seven feet tall with a goatee now, it looks noticeably different compared to his adventures in the Kalos region. With such a major change, the inevitable question is why?
Fortunately, I just so happen to have answered this question the last time around, and it turns out that the answer applies just as well, if not better. At the time when green-eyed Ash was revealed, I wrote a post explaining how this was a clear attempt at making the characters in the Pokemon anime match more closely with the character designs of the games. The main artist for Pokemon has always been Ken Sugimori, and while the designs of the anime characters were based on his work back in the mid to late 90s, hes continued to refine his art style over the years.
Characters appear rounder and softer, and the way their eyes are drawn have that distinct Sugimori look. After having a talk with Lillie, Ash decided to make things right with Rotom then went back on set to apologizes for his behavior before. However, Ash with Pikachu were accidentally sent to a parallel world when Tapu Koko and a Shiny Tapu Koko from the parallel world used an electric attack at the same time which created a crack between the two worlds.
Ash and Pikachu listen to Dia's story when he told them how Guzzlord came to his world also how it destroy his world. Ash was explain by Dia, who realize that their not from his world, that he and Pikachu got sent to a parallel world. Despite being told no into helping them stop Guzzlord, Ash and Pikachu decide to train anyway which inspired Dia with Zeraora to join them so they can battle the Ultra Beast.
When Dia wanted to retreat because Guzzlord was too strong, Ash refuse to run and was determined to help his friend finish what he started. Through an surprise arrangement by Lana, Ash reunites with Misty and Brock again. Hearing that Misty, Lana and Mallow were interested in Mantine Surfing with Sophocles adding about doing it, Ash suggested into going to Treasure Island as their destination to surf to. Ash and his friends all had a great time surfing as everyone jumped on the waves, minus Lillie, Mallow and Sophocles.
After arriving on the island, Ash show his friends around the island. However, Ash and his friends had to stop Team Rocket from stealing the Mantine when they showed up once again to cause trouble.
Ash and Misty meet back up with Brock where he had dinner made for all of them. After showing the family farm, Ash with his classmates introduce Misty and Brock to Olivia.
After Team Rocket was defeated, Ash and his friends watch a firework display then had to say goodbye to his longtime friends once again but they both vow to come back and visit again one day. Later, Ash and his classmates arrive on Poni Island to do their research projects for school.
Ash was planing to do his last Grand Trail battle as his project but could't because there was no Island Kahuna.
While exploring the Island, Ash and his classmates meet Hapu, who is the granddaughter of one of the previous Island Kahuna of Poni Island, where she mistaken them for thieves as she believes that they were gonna take her radishes from her fields.
Ash was getting ready to battle them but Hapu showed up where she accused him for stealing again but he cleared the misunderstanding to her by showing her what Team Skull was doing. After Hapu took care of Team Skull and apologizes for accusing him as a thief, Ash asked if he can have another battle with her but she refuse to battle him then left. After helping her Mudsdale calm down when it stepped on a Corsola brach, Ash asked Hapu, who wanted to repay him for helping her, for another battle but she refused to battle him.
Ash kept asking Hapu for a battle but he ended getting kicked by her Mudsdale when he annoyed her. Landing where Lillie and Gladion were, Ash was chased by Hapu until his friend got her to stop. Ash was asked by Gladion, who was gonna battle his sister, if he wanted to battle him which he accepted.
However, Ash lost to Gladion again then saw Tapu Fini fly over them. Arriving at the canyon, Ash along with his friends meet up with Horacio and his brother, who he once competed against in the Charjabug race with Kiawe and Sophocles. Ash, Hapu and Kiawe waited outside when Sophocles challenge Horacio to a contest when he expressed interest in evolving his Charjabug. Later, Ash joins his friends for a party to celebrate Ida, who once helped Lana master her Z-Move, and Kanoa journey to see the world.
Ash and his friends witness Lana show the hard work she did with her Popplio which resulted in her partner evolving into Brionne. Ash and everyone waved goodbye to Ida and Kanoa. However, Ash and Kiawe got Tapu Fini mad when they had a double battle to see who would battle the Island Guardian first. When Tapu Fini offer them a chance to leave when Kiawe went to get some of Tapu Lele scales for their freedom, Ash and everyone choose to stay for their friend.
Ash and his friends headed over to Hapu place where they helped in her radishes fields. During their time inside the fog, Ash was very happy that Torracat got to see Stoutland again.
Ash was very pleased that Stoutland help Torracat learn Fire Blast but they had to say goodbye to it when the fog cleared up. Reunited with their friends, Ash with his friends were introduce to Shaymin that Mallow found and decided to take care of it.
Hearing that Hapu has official become the new Island Kahuna of Poni Island, Ash asked for Grand Trail but she told him that she needed to complete a ritual to official be the Island Kahuna but she does accept his challenge. Despite the type disadvantage Pikachu had, Ash was able to come up with an idea to beat Hapu which was to get her Mudsdale wet then used Gigavolt Havoc to finish it off. Ash was excited that he won his last Grand Trail then Hapu presents him a box filled with Z-Crystals where he will choose his prize.
Wanting to thank his best friend for all his hard work, Ash lets Pikachu decide which Z-Crystal they should have where he chooses Steelium Z as their reward for wining the Grand Trail of Poni Island. With their research projects done, Ash and his friends say goodbye to Hapu before they head back with Professor Kukui to Melemele Island. Ash and his friends observed them until they ran away from the classroom which motivated them to look for them. After returning to Professor Kukui's house, Ash contacted Professor Oak about the new specie he encounter.
Ash battled Kiawe in a triple battle but was called off then was asked on what he was gonna do next as he was finished with the Island challenge, due to passing all the Grand Trails. However, Ash could't give an answer when he sees Rowlet flying pass them then he and Pikachu go after him. Ash and Pikachu were able to meet up with Rowlet then both of them became surprise to see their friend all scruffy up. Also, Ash was excited to see that a Meltan, who thought he and Pikachu were gonna hurt them as they were dealing with Team Rocket before they arrived, came from behind Rowlet and wonders if it got separated from its friends.
While wondering on how to find Meltan friends, Ash and his friends were surprised that Lusamine's Clefable brought the other Meltan with her as they been in the Ultra Guardians-based. Ash and his friends were witness when Clefable showed them on how she got them to behave.
Also, Ash with Kiawe and Sophocles helped do the behind the scenes of a T. V show that the girls were gonna be doing as they watch it at Professor Kukui's house. Ash and his fellow Ultra Guardians went looking for it again when they heard that it took more Z-Crystal from other Trainers but it was too fast for them.
Forming a plan, Ash and his fellow Ultra Guardians plan to use their Z-Crystal to lure it out in hopes of catching it. However, Ash and his fellow Ultra Guardians were shocked that their planed failed. Ash was a witness when Bewear, who was furious for the way it stole Z-Crystal and that it broke Team Rocket's Mewoth heart, battled it and defeated it which gave the Ultra Guardians a chance to catch it.
Ash and his classmates headed over to Aether Paradise as Professor Kukui was gonna make an announcement there. Despite Professor Kukui telling everyone to stay in the classroom, Ash and his friends head down anyway to confront them.
During the contortion, Ash and his friends encounter Plumeria, who he meet during his time on Poni Island, and the boss of Team Skull Guzma, who has history with Professor Kukui. Not liking how he was treating Professor Kukui, Ash challenges him to battle which he accepted. Ash and everyone accompany Lillie to go see Hala as she needed to get permission to use his Z-Ring until he is found. Despite not being able to do a Z-Move, Ash and everyone assured her that she did her best as they encourage her to keeps on trying until she'll be able to perform a Z-Move one day.
Ash and his classmate return to Ula'ula Island for a two-day trip to Mallie City. When they got their, Ash and his friends went to Mallie garden for some sight seeing. Ash's battle with was a one on one battle but was changed into a double battle when Meltan interfered due to being up upset about how Rowlet was losing to him.
Thanks to Rowlet learning Brave Bird and a compaction with that same move along with Meltan Flash Cannon, Ash was able to beat Ryuki and got a souvenir badge from him.
After witnessing Sophocles win the race, Ash, Kiawe, Lana, Lillie and Mallow were excited that their friend got a Buginium Z which was the prize for winning the race then they all witness him getting a Z-Ring from Hapu, after she heard from the other racers what he did to stop Team Rocket from stealing the Vikavolt.
While fishing one day with their friends, Ash, Pikachu, Lana and Sandy were in Brionne's balloons where they raced. Landing in rocky expose reef, Ash and Lana encounter Kyogre then notice that it had been poisoned. Ash, Pikachu and Sandy waited for the two to come up but to their surprise Brionne ended up evolving into Primarina through her determination to help her Trainer. Also, Ash with everyone witness Lana and Primarina calm Kyorgre down.
After saying farewell to Kyogre, Ash and Lana meet back up with their friends then told them about their adventure. Arriving to return a frying pan he borrowed to Mallow, Ash noticed that Olivia was helping at Mallow's Family restaurant then was inform that his friend was off doing an errand.
After Rotom pointed out that Olivia might have a hard time helping due to being clumsy, Ash decided to help out in the Family restaurant as well. While helping, Ash notice that Kiawe arrived with a MooMoo Milk delivery as he told him that his timing was perfect and his friend join the helping when he notice Olivia was also helping out as well.
After Kiawe told the arriving Lana, Lillie and Sophocles that they needed help, Ash and everyone helped keep the restaurant running until Mallow return. However, Ash and his friends were exhausted from all the customers that came as they told a returning Mallow that they had a ton of people come to the restaurant while she was away.
After Mallow's father, who was grateful for their assistants, told their friend that the restaurant got taken care thanks to them, Ash, Olivia, Kiawe, Lana, Lillie and Sophocles were inform that their friend helped out in the Forest Cafe a lot then got a Grassium Z and a Z-Ring for helping.
Ash and Kiawe both help Sophocles perfect his Z-Moves. When Kiawe came up with a way to help Sophocles, Ash stood out of the way during the whole ordeal but was pleased to see that his friend perfected his Z-Moves. However, Ash and his friends were called in for an Ultra Guardians mission. After entering the base, Ash and his fellow Ultra Guardians were shocked that the Meltan living with Clefable have multiplied. Ash and his fellow Ultra Guardians were inform about the new Ultra Beast, Kartana, then they embark on their mission to find it.
After trying to catch it and witness how it defeated Team Rocket so easily, Ash and his fellow Ultra Guardians were told to canceled the mission due to a meteor getting to hit Alola. When their plan didn't work, Ash and his fellow Ultra Guardians were running out of ideas but the Ultra Beast arrive to cut the meteor which saved Alola. Ash and his fellow Ultra Guardians were scolded by Professor Burnet for putting themselves endanger like that but was happy that it worked out and they were all alright.
While training, Ash and Torracat were accidentally sent into the past by a nearby Celebi. Ash and Torracat ran into a Litten with a little boy, who happens to be Professor Kukui when he was a kid. When ask to battle him, Ash wanted to go easy on the boy but was told that he wanted a full on battle which he gave him.
Ash gave the young boy some helpful advice and assuring that if he kept trying he'll win the next time. When he was gonna have another battle with the young boy, Ash and Torracat were sent back to the present by the same Celebi, which left both of them unaware of their real identities due to both of them being call a different name, Move Kahuna and Roarie.
Ash and Torracat were reunited with their friends, who been looking for them. While walking back to Professor Kukui's house, Ash asked Pikachu, Rowlet, Lycanroc and Meltan what happened while he and Torracat were away but he didn't get an answer from them he just got some affection from them instead.
Upon arriving at the house, Ash went to wash his hands then went to get Professor Kukui as it was lunch time. While there, Ash, Kiawe, Lana, Mallow and Sophocles were introduce to Magearna by Lillie as she explains to them that it was a gift from her father, Mohn.
While training, Ash gave some advice to Lillie when she was having trouble on how to feel when using a Z-Move. Ash, Kiawe and Lana became fired up when they hear that the winner of the League will have a special match against the Masked Royal. While continuing the training, Ash witness his best friend perfecting her Z-Move and was excited that Lillie did it and was also happy that he was able to help her.
While checking out the stadium, Ash meets up with Hau and was introduce to his newly evolved Decidueye. Hearing Team Skull's plans to destroy the League and being explain about Professor Kukui's past with Guzma, Ash and his friends all plan to stop Team Skull from destroying the League, after hearing their participating in League as well. During the opening fest for the League, Ash and his friends meet up with Gladion again. Ash and his friends were explained that the preliminary round will be a Battle Royal by the Masked Royal.
After getting through the preliminary round, Ash was one of sixteenth Trainer's to make through the eighth finals where he'll be battling Faba. Through the use of Meltan's ability to eat metal and its Flash Cannon attack, Ash was able to defeat Faba and move on to the Quarter-Finals.
After his battle, Ash watch all the other matches. Ash used this second chance to finally defeat Hau using Rowlet's Brave Bird, thus winning the battle. After the battle, both rivals applauded each other and promised to battle again. After the semifinal matches were revealed, Ash was surprised when he saw he has to face Guzma in the semifinals. Although their Z-Move did some damage to it, Ash and Pikachu had to finish to battle with all they got which they did.
After defeating Guzma, Ash gets ready for the finals against Gladion. Also, Ash, his mother, Professor Oak, Kukui and Burnet witness all the other Meltan arrived when his gives the other its location.
Ash and everyone witness them all merged which led Meltan to evolve into Melmetal. Starting the finals, Ash brought out Melmetal and it gave its all but was knocked down by Gladion's Silvally. Using their Lycanroc, Ash and Gladion gave everything they had. However, Ash was able to beat Gladion and become the first Champion of Alola.
After telling everyone about the Ultra Beast week spot, Ash helps get everyone to safety. Ash didn't recognized it at first but when Pikachu showed the Ultra Guardian pendent is when he realized that its his old friend Poipole but it evolved into Naganadel.
However, Ash and Rotom became shocked when they see that the Masked Royal is Professor Kukui, after his mask was sent flying due to strong force of the Z-Moves, with Naganadel along with Pikachu being witnesses as well.
Ash vs Kukui at the League exhibition match, after discovering his true identity as the Masked Royal. Although he was in shocked that the Masked Royal was Professor Kukui, Ash shook those feelings off as he became more excited for the exhibition battle as he not only gets the chance to battle his teacher and role model but he also doesn't care that he kept his double life a secret from him along with their friends for so long. Ash and Professor Kukui both agreed to a full battle then he recalled Naganadel.
Before the full battle, Ash trains with Melmetal in preparation for his battle with Kukui. During their full battle, Ash had Torracat battle Professor Kukui's Incineroar but recalled him to recover then sent out Lycanroc to battle it but he recalled it and sent out his Braviary. However, Ash was bump when Rowlet was knocked by Professor Kukui's Venusaur but sent Torracat back out to defeat it then recalled him.
Ash had Pikachu battle Professor Kukui's Empoleon but had him come back when he took some serious damage but Melmetal defeat it but ended up being knocked out when he sent his Incineroar back out but he recalled it.
Little did he know, Ash was being watch by Tapu Koko, who help the Island Kahunas defeat Guzzlord then decided to stay after the Ultra Beast was defeated, as it was watching the battle between him and Professor Kukui.
Ash was pleased to see when Naganadel defeated Professor Kukui's Lucario as he recalls it after their battle. After they both used Inferno Overdrive at the same time and had a clash with one of their moves, Ash was happy that Torracat defeated Professor Kukui's Incineroar but he ended up evolving into an Incineroar but he could't continue battling due to the battle taking a lot out of him and recalled it.
However, Ash help Pikachu by giving him his strength and encouragement which led them to defeat Tapu Koko. After the battle, Ash was praised and coagulated by Professor Kukui for the hard-fought battle they had. However, Ash had to say goodbye to Naganadel, who sensed a Ultra Wormhole nearby, as it had to return to its home then bid it farewell.
At school, Ash listens to his friends dreams and plans for an upcoming vacation then was ask to battle by Kiawe in order to make up for not getting the chance to during the League. Hearing Sophocles ask him about his plans for vacation, Ash became unsure, due to not giving that much of a thought on the matter. Despite that idea, Ash asks Professor Kukui for some advice but all he told him that he should figure it out himself. Although, Ash was given some encouragement from Professor Kukui, which he appertained.
When Olivia, who was referring the battle, ask them about their plans, Ash was still unsure as he explains to her that he should figure it out for himself and then listens to what Kiawe plans are. When Olivia realizes his friend true goal, Ash became happy for Kiawe and supports him in making his dream a reality.
Although, Ash listens to Olivia give Kiawe some advice about going out and seeing the world as it would help him make his dream come true. Ash was told by Olivia that he would understand what she was saying as he came to Alola for his journey to make his dream come true. That night, after thinking about what Olivia said and realizing that his Alola journey was almost over, Ash not only decided to see more of the world but also continue his journey in order to make his dream a reality. Although, that next day when Sophocles asked if he knows what he's gonna do during vacation, Ash told his friend yes then was gonna tell him along with their other friends of his decision of resuming his journey and going back to Kanto.
However, Ash got interrupted when Lillie arrived with Snowy and the newly awaken Magearna then became surprised when she tells everyone that she was leaving Alola with her family to find her long lost father.
After seeing how bumped out his friends were about Lillie leaving Alola but they did cheered up when she tells them that she'll be back once they find her father, Ash decided to wait to tell his friends about his own plans to leave the Region as he didn't want to upset them more if he told them on the spot.
While staring at the sunset, Ash was asked by Rotom when he was gonna tell their friends about his plans to leave Alola as well.
Although he knows how sad their gonna be about him departing Alola, Ash tells Rotom that he's gonna tell their friends his plan to resume his journey that next day. After battling and helping Team Rocket's Mimikyu, Ash reunites with Nebby, who decided to come see him and say goodbye.
Ash and Iris had their battle where he emerge victorious in the World Coronation Series then they both agree to battle again one day. Ash and Cilan are close friends. Much like his relationship with Brock, Ash enjoys Cilan's cooking and doesn't usually fight with him but when they do, they make up right away. In addition, Ash would be helped by Cilan as he helps him see through his mistakes. Before going their separate ways, Ash was told by Cilan how much he learned from him.
Pleased, Ash said he felt the same way about him. Although, Ash and Cilan friendship will remain no matter where their journeys take them. Clemont is one of Ash's best friends. Like with Iris, they practiced battles with one another during their journey. While Ash respects Clemont as a Gym Leader, he also admires his inventions and cooking. Unlike some of his other friends, Ash and Clemont rarely fought. On the other side, Ash would be looked out by Clemont, as he would sometimes warn him about impending danger.
Ash trusts Clemont to know about his Bond Phenomenon ability. After their journey concluded together, Ash went back home to resume his journey while Clemont stayed to run his gym with Bonnie right beside him. However, Ash and Clemont knew that they'll always be friends no matter where they are.
Ash and Bonnie are very good friends. Like with Max, Ash is protective of Bonnie and would do anything to keep her safe from danger. Also, Ash and Bonnie didn't hardly have any arguments. Ash knows that Bonnie will keep his Bond Phenomenon ability a secret.
When their journey together ended, Ash and Bonnie went their separate ways as he went home to find out his next move as a Trainer while she stayed in Kalos alongside Clemont. Ash also knows that he'll always be friends with Bonnie. Serena is Ash's childhood friend, though they had an estranged relationship due to being separated for many years.
They first met many years ago at Professor Oak's summer camp, where Ash helped Serena with a knee injury that she received when she got spooked by a Poliwag, tripping and skinning her knee. Ash and Serena were separated for many years until she eventually saw the boy on TV one day. Rushing to Santalune City to meet her savior, Serena was initially disappointed to find out that Ash didn't recognize her at first. When he planned to go to his next Gym, Ash asked Serena what she was going to do next, though seeing that she was unsure he asked her if she wanted to travel with him and the group, an offer that she happily accepted.
However, after being shown the handkerchief he used on her knee back at Professor Oak's camp, Ash remembered meeting Serena when he was little, calling her the "girl with the straw hat. Ash was clueless to Serena's very strong crush on him during their journey, which she never denied her feelings for when asked or confronted as she would become initially embarrassed and tried to keep it a secret.
Much like with Dawn, Ash and Serena hardly have any disagreements and are never judgmental of each other. However, unlike with Dawn or rather with every other female companion , Ash doesn't annoy Serena at all with his antics. Serena even goes the extra mile in that even when scolding Ash, she's much gentler and doesn't show nor conceal her temper towards him, hinting that she knows some appropriate ways to be firm whilst keeping her cool.
Despite all this, however, they did have a fallout with each other when Ash snapped at Serena for not understanding his feelings, after initially losing a Gym battle for his last Kalos badge.
This fight wasn't entirely an argument though like with most of Ash's previous female companions as Serena was only trying to help him snap out of his depression. As such, after realizing that she was just trying to help, Ash felt guilty for being so hard on Serena, who in turn, felt guilty believing that she made the scene worse by yelling back at him and that he was out in the blizzard as a result of their argument.
As Serena attempted to apologize to him for lashing back at him, Ash stopped her to show how truly sorry he was for hurting her by thanking her for talking and knocking, due to being thrown a couple of snowballs, some sense into him. Ash has faith in Serena as he trusts her to keep his Bond Phenomenon power hidden from anyone that isn't their friend. Before going their separate ways, Ash was pleased when Serena said that she was glad that she came with him and that he was going to like the person she grows into the next time they see each other.
However, Ash became stunned when Serena leaned forward and kissed him, shocking all of their friends. Also, Ash knows his friendship with Serena will remain strong even when they are apart.
However, although they're friends, Ash gets annoyed with Lana's jokes at times, but never truly had any disagreements with her. During Ash's time in Alola, he and Lana went on adventures together, although they were sometimes joined by Mallow. Ash appreciates Lana support in becoming the first Champion of Alola. However, Ash and Lana went their separate ways as he decided to return home to continue his journey while she stayed in Alola to go fishing for Manaphy with her dad.
Although, they remained friends until the end, shown when he briefly revisited Alola. During their time in Alola, they were often there to help cheer each other up whenever one of them was feeling down. Like with Max and Bonnie, Ash would go through great lengths to protect Lillie from danger. Also, Ash helped Lillie and Gladion save their friends and Lusamine from Ultra Space, earning her appreciation even more.
Like what he did for Serena, Ash gave Lillie good advice as he helped her perfect her Z-Moves, although she didn't get what meant at first, and supported her.
They both didn't have any disagreements as Ash would stand up for Lillie and she has done the same for him. Also, Ash was very happy that Lillie supported him in becoming Champion of Alola. Ash and Lillie parted ways when he decided to continue his own journey while she left to go on a journey to find her long lost father. However, they gave each other thanks for everything they did for one another. Despite being apart, Ash knows his friendship with Lillie will always be with him. Also, during a visit in Alola, Ash was happy that Lillie was doing ok on her journey to find her father and hopes to see her again as she hopes the same for him.
They encourage and support each other as they provide assistance to each other whenever they need it. Although, Ash and Sophocles could disagree at times but get over it quickly. Like how he acted with Clemont, Ash is impressed with Sophocles' know how and his inventions. One special gift that Ash gave to Sophocles was a Charjabug initially meant to be a farewell gift.
After becoming Champion of Alola, Ash was very happy that Sophocles supported him till the end. Ash and Sophocles parted ways when he decided to return to Kanto in order to resume his journey and the latter left for Hoenn. However, Ash and Sophocles both know that their friendship will always be there no matter where they are, shown when they briefly reunited when he visited Alola.
Like Brock and Cilan, Ash is impressed with Mallow's cooking. During their time in Alola, Ash and Mallow went on adventures together, sometimes they had Lana accompany them. They are often there to support and assist each other whenever they need it. Ash and Mallow hardly ever had any arguments with each other. Also, Ash greatly appreciates Mallow support in becoming Champion of Alola.
However, they remained friends even though they were apart. During a visit from Alola, Ash was pleased that Mallow wanted to celebrate his visit and meeting his new friend, Goh. The two have an extremely strong, almost familial bond. After battling him twice and being defeated both times, Ash was told by the Masked Royal that his Incineroar and Ash's Incineroar, during his time as a Torracat, were officially rivals.
When fighting as the Double Royals, their battling coordination and teamwork were so good that James said, "Those two are so in sync, you'll never know it's their first time.
Ash was very happy that Professor Kukui watched him become Champion of Alola. After finding out his identity, Ash was shocked that the Masked Royal and Professor Kukui were the same person at first.
However, Ash became excited about it since he didn't care about how long Professor Kukui kept his secret. Ash and Kukui eventually had to part ways when he decided to return to Kanto, but their bond remained intact. Ever since Professor Burnet married Kukui and moved in with Ash, she has acted as a mother figure to the boy. Although, unlike Delia sometimes, Ash doesn't get embarrassed by Professor Burnet as she usually doesn't say anything that would freak him out or nervous.
They are both huge fans of the Masked Royal, although they were both clueless at first that it was actually Professor Kukui along with Ash's classmates. However, Ash, his classmates, and Professor Burnet eventually found out about the Masked Royal's identity, which ended up just making them admire him even more.
Ash even appreciates Professor Burnet support in becoming Champion of Alola. Before going back home to resume his journey, Ash thanked Professor Burnet for everything, knowing they'd always be friends no matter the distance. When Ash first met Chloe, she was very shy as she often is with new acquaintances. She seemed rather suspicious of Ash and quickly shuffled away without talking to him. This suspicion was probably made stronger because of her father's Yamper electrocuting him. For some time onward, despite Ash's nice and friendly nature, Chloe would often freeze up whenever he spoke to her.
However, Ash has been able to get Chloe to trust him more as she has got to know him better and they formed a friendship with each other.
Chloe even helped Ash patch things up between him and Pikachu, who had become lonely and jealous about the time his partner was spending over training Riolu instead of him. Ash first met Goh when they jumped on Lugia at the same time. Ash would help Goh whenever he needed it and he would do the same for him. Despite their friendship, Ash and Goh at times do clash but do makeup in the end.
Much like how he was with Misty and Kiawe, Ash can be competitive with Goh at times. Ash even helps Goh understand that some of his traits need fixing since he shares some of the same traits that he once had.
Also, similar to what Brock and Cilan did for him, Ash helps Goh see through his mistakes from time to time. Although he heard about him through the professors, Ash officially meets Lei during a visit to Alola while reuniting with Professor Burnet and Professor Kukui.
Lei was very excited to meet Ash, seeing him as a big brother figure. Ash and Gary have known each other since they were little, as they grew up together. Despite their rivalry, Ash and Gary still looked out for each other at times, showing that they were still friends. During their time in Johto, Ash and Gary were able to mend their friendship, as they grew close to one another again.
Ash gets annoyed when Gary teases him from time to time, but it's all in good fun. Ash is close friends with Kiawe. While they're usually on good terms, Ash and Kiawe also share a friendly rivalry with each other.
Much like how he was with Misty, Ash is also competitive with Kiawe from time to time as they do sometimes argue, though they get over their disagreements quickly. Despite their rivalry and competitiveness, the two boys are always ready to lend a hand to each other. Also, Ash liked that Kiawe had faith in him when he became Champion of Alola.
